Softball Training

A collegiate level American softball coach came to Malta for two weeks in July to serve alongside some Maltese coaches and players. Several training sessions arranged by a local coach were held for both coaches and players to develop their sport. As the partnership with the Maltese softball community was great, the coach will continue supporting the team.

Unbound-Acts

Purpose

We are looking for Actionsport people who are excited believers and make a positive difference in their communities.

Our “Why”

We are a Team within SRS and founded 15 years ago.  80 young Actionsport people involved in snowboarding, climbing, biking, skateboarding and surfing who do ministry in Germany gathered together. ACTS is a global network of action sports ministries consisting of both organizations and individuals. We are an expression of ReadySetGo. We exist to support one another in making disciples of Jesus in the world of the action sport community.

Purpose Statement & Vision

We ignite the Actionsports community to experience real freedom.

Hopes and Dreams

We want to hold 35 events each year to reach over 650 Actionsports people. To connect them to local churches, we want to plan and hold monthly meetings for athletes in their hometowns.

This fall, SRS hosted the 2nd Annual International Action Sport Summit in Starnberg near Munich, Germany.  45 people attended and were reminded that ACTS exists to: GATHER people, VALIDATE calling, SHARE resources, and GROW leaders and ministries.

European Forum on Transformational Coaching

In May 2018, we hosted the first European Forum on Transformational Coaching in Malta with 20 coaches from 8 countries in attendance. The second edition of this forum is planned for the fall of 2019. Our team helped create resources to empower coaches and PE teachers in being intentional in their personal development as well as to grow in their ability to manage relationships with their athletes and all others they are in contact with.

Camp in Southern Romania

During the last four years, we have been to Curtici, Romania every summer. They have good sports facilities for: soccer, volleyball, handball, basketball and tennis. We have come alongside a church that likes to offer sports camps. We send coaches and volunteers to run two camps – one in the morning for the children and one in the afternoon and evening for the teenagers. About half of the participants families are very poor and live excluded form society. “Sports is a great tool to build bridges – even to people that we would not likely interact with”, said one of the Romanian volunteers. We are particularly happy to hear that after the camp during the summer a bi-weekly sports program for the children and teenagers started around the new sport of floor-ball. The church also sent one of their volunteers to one of our projects in order to learn more about sports ministry and camps in particular. The church‘s pastor says: “Now, we only need to share this great idea and opportunity with other churches. Then, he gives us contact details of other pastors, that he knows. Like he says, “it is already a win for the cause.” It looks like next summer, our teams will be spending more than one week in the south of Romania to equip and empower the locals run sports camps where children and teenagers can learn for sports and for life and where they get a chance to hear the good news.
