For the second time, the SRS Gymnastics team hosted a gymnastics training weekend for girls in Germany. Besides the intense training, learning about values in sport was a main part of the camp. The focus was on the values of: respects, worth, and trust. The girls, aged 10 to 17 made big steps forward in training. The next gymnastics camp will take place in a new gymnastic facility in February 2019.
We traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina, after receiving an invitation from a bible school to come alongside them and teach their students about sports ministry and make practical projects. We had the chance to meet a first division soccer team and have a devotion with one of the players. Another project that just started there is establishing a rowing school for students and youth from this area.

“Kindersportarena” is a camp taking place in the eastern part of Germany in a region where children seldom learn anything about Jesus. Therefore, the main goal of the camp was that the children see how coaches take their sport seriously and life their daily life with Jesus. The camp took place for the 11th time this summer with 40 children aged 8-13 participating. The children learned about the bible in events during the evenings. As the eastern part of Germany is not economically strong, many children grow up in poor families. The “Kindersportarena” has low attendance fees which gives many kids the chance to participate. Profit is not a goal of the camp. The camp is financed mainly by donations.

The SRS Sportpark, located in Altenkirchen, Germany is a state-of-the-art training facility for athletes to come and enjoy a special environment conducive to all participants in a variety of sports. One of the new additions is the 7 x 7 Move Box, a multisport venue that allows local children and youth to utilize the Climbing Wall and other activities.
Being able to swim can save your life one day. That is one of the reasons why children in South Africa need to learn how to swim.
Our project offers children facing a life full of gangs, drugs, violence and crime, a safe place to play. These kids live in a poor, dangerous and dirty environment and hope is a rare commodity for them.
What we offer them is a time to play sport, have lunch together and we help with their homework. They get the chance to swim even though they could never afford the entry to a swimming facility.
Sport has the power to change the world. […] It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. […] Sport can create hope where once there was only despair.

Another sports they can practice with us is cycling. The children learn to ride their bikes and ride their bikes for fun and competitions. This opportunity gives them a break from their challenging day-to-day lives and offers them a new outlook on their lives.
Through our Sports Coaching we can teach them values and life skills that can help them to live a life free from drugs and crime.
Coaching outreaches include coaches huddles and a coaches clinic. New coaches huddles have also been started both in Malta and in Germany. In Malta, a coaches huddle was made available for local Maltese coaches representing various sports. This time was shared over pizza and conversation about the topic of “Pressures Coaches Deal With”. The huddle in Germany also centers around the building of relationships and walking with coaches as they learn to coach the whole athlete and not just the game.
A European Forum on Transformational coaching was also held in Malta at the end of May. This was done in partnership with different sports entities from various parts of the world. Speakers from these participating entities provided speakers to present the material. The topics covered during the event were values in coaching, 3D coaching, key relationships of every coach, and personal development plans for coaches. New material was also introduced and tested during this time. This was the first edition of the event, and we hope to engage more coaches from a variety of sports and locations in future editions.
In May, we came alongside the 3D institute to hold coaches training sessions in 4 different countries and engaging 200 coaches. The sessions were held in The University of Malta, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Prague, Czech Republic, and Budapest, Hungary. There were 12 different countries represented with 200 participating coaches. The sessions focused on developing coaching skills to develop the entire athlete and to help him or her reach his or her full potential. In Prague, these sessions were hosted by a local sports governing body with elite coaches. In Cluj-Napoca, there were 50-60 coaches in attendance. In Hungary, the sessions were hosted by a group of baseball coaches.
